All About Shorkies
The shorkie, a crossbreed between a shih tzu and a Yorkshire terrier, is a small, spirited-yet-snuggly companion with a silky, allergy-friendly coat.
At Yorkie and Morkie Boutique, we have hand-picked the best parents to produce our Shorkie breed. The Shorkie entered our Boutique as our puppy parents were seeking a companion pup. Counter to our Yorkies, the Shorkie pup is much more quieter and docile of a pup. In comparison to a Yorkie, the Shorkie comes from a long heritage of genetic characteristics from the Shih-Tzu. The Shih-Tzu was bred to be a royal companion and be a hypo-allergenic and quiet dog. They are much quieter and completely content on your lap as your snuggle buddy.
We decided to pursue adding this beautiful breed to our Boutique program to offer the best of both worlds! The small statue of a Yorkie with the calm demeanor of the Shih-Tzu. Our small little AKC Shih-Tzu mommy will produce beautiful Shih-Tzu colors all the while breeding with our AKC Yorkshire Terrier sire will produce the tiny frame that most people seek in a toy breed line.
Although the Shorkie breed is not AKC recognized, we only breed F1 generation Shorkies. This means that both sets of parents are purebred AKC registered and come together to create a 50% Shih-Tzu and 50% Yorkie (Shorkie).
Small but mighty, the Shorkie is a charming pup with a sweet but spirited nature. They make wonderful family pets and devoted lap dog for just about any owner who's ready to spend lots of time together.
Given their little bodies and cute Yorkie faces, the short hair cut resembles a teddy bear and therefore most puppy parents are thrilled as these little ones develop into the cutest teddy bear Shorkies out there!
